In 2012, two new grounds – “gender identity” and “gender expression” – were added as grounds of discrimination in Ontario’s Human Rights Code. To reflect these changes and other developments, the OHRC is revising its Policy on discrimination and harassment because of gender identity and including discussion of gender expression.

You can help us by taking part in an on-line consultation survey as we work to update the policy. This survey will help us define the new grounds and other terms. Through the survey, we also invite people to talk about lived experiences of discrimination, organizational responsibilities and ideas for advancing the rights of transgender people.

The survey is available in English and French. You may complete the survey anonymously or provide contact information so that the OHRC can follow up, if necessary.  If you provide your contact information it will be kept confidential and will not be shared with anyone outside of the OHRC.  The survey is available until May 24^th, 2013. Please share the link to the survey with your clients, service users, networks, partner organizations and colleagues. For people who need a non web-based format, we have attached the survey to this email along with information on how to mail, fax or e-mail responses.
